This Is Not a Government Office or Records Custodian. Monroe Residents Directory is a private guide. We cannot retrieve or certify a record, verify a person at an address, or alter an official roll. Send those requests to the custodian. Call 911 for an emergency. If stalking or harassment is a concern, contact local law enforcement instead of using a records search.
Need an Official Record?
These are the quickest starting points for common Monroe County record questions:
- Property, a deed, or an address trail: start with the Monroe by-street guide
- Historic directory volumes or earlier households: see the Monroe city-directory collections
- A record trail for one named person: use the Monroe resident lookup guide
- Office roles and public-source limits: see the Monroe records offices overview
- County-agency material that is not online: submit a reasonably described request under New York FOIL, Public Officers Law §§84–90, to the agency holding it
For land records, court filings, and other County Clerk records:
Monroe County Clerk, Downtown Filing Office
County Office Building, 39 W Main St, Room 101/105, Rochester, NY 14614
Information: 585-753-1600
Public hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
County court files are not obtained through FOIL. Ask the relevant clerk about a search or copy under Judiciary Law §255. Birth and death certificates require the Monroe County Vital Records or New York State Department of Health eligibility route under Public Health Law §§4174, 4139, and 4138, rather than a general records request.
