Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is submitted to the third-party service that provides the results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it only to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our host records routine server-log details, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of visit. We review aggregated activity to operate and improve the site. Cookies or comparable technology may be used for basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
We use this limited information to run the site, diagnose problems, understand traffic in aggregate, and improve the pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Websites
This site links to Monroe County offices, New York records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside provider controls the information submitted on its own site under its own privacy policy. That includes sponsored search results supplied by a third-party company.
When Data May Be Shared
Hosting and site-support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it, and not otherwise.
Data Safeguards
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept no longer than needed for the purposes described here. There are no site accounts, passwords, or user profiles for us to maintain.
Visitors Under 18
This reference site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor sent us information, contact us so it can be deleted.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a website retains. Use the Contact page to ask about data this site holds. New York's Personal Privacy Protection Law, Public Officers Law Article 6-A, addresses state personal-information practices and SSN limits; it does not give this private reference site authority over a government record. We keep very little, so requests generally involve checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs. Requests to correct a public record go to its custodian: for example, the Monroe County Clerk for a recording index, Real Property Tax Service or a municipal assessor for parcel material, the Board of Elections for registration, or a vital-record registrar for a certificate.
Policy Updates
We will post any revision to this policy on this page. Continued use after a posted revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
