These terms apply when you use Monroe Residents Directory. By continuing to use the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

1. Purpose of This Website

Monroe Residents Directory is a privately run reference to public-source routes and historical directory collections in Monroe County, New York. It links to records indexes and explains their limitations. The site does not host government records and is not connected with any government office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Permitted Use

Use this site only for lawful purposes. You may not use the site or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Find someone protected by a restraining or protective order or an Address Confidentiality Program substitute address
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant screening, or insurance
  • Scrape, copy, or republish site content on a large scale
  • Disrupt the site's operation or compromise its security

3. Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Monroe Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing on this site, or returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, tenant screening, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Outside Services

Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their content, availability, charges, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The site is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that information is accurate, complete, or current, or that a linked portal will remain available or return correct results.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this site or a linked resource, including decisions based on records located through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the site's operators harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, caused by your misuse of the site or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The site's original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to a page or quote a short excerpt with attribution, but may not republish full pages or systematically copy the content.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance.

10. Restricting Access

We may block or limit access, without notice and at our discretion, for a user who violates these terms or abuses the site.

11. New York Law

New York law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law §§84–90, governs requests to agencies, while Judiciary Law §255 governs court-file searches and copies. New York's Personal Privacy Protection Law appears in Public Officers Law Article 6-A; these statutes do not make this private site a government custodian.

12. Severability

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
